What is a Bang?
For those of you who haven't participated in a Bang event before, or if you would simply like a refresher, a fandom Bang is traditionally an event where one writer collaborates with one artist to create a piece of fiction and an accompanying work of visual art. At the end of the event, a posting period ensues. Each day, a new piece of fiction and its accompanying art are posted and promoted together.Artist and writer partnerships are determined early in the event. To keep things as fair as possible for all participants, writers submit a synopsis of their fic along with registration. Mods will then post all fic synopses anonymously, and an artist claiming period will follow. During this claiming period, artists will be allowed to view all fic synopses, decide which fics they would be willing to illustrate, then rank their first, second, and third choices.Mods will proceed to pair writers with artists and announce the pairings!Once this is completed, the creation period will begin. During the creation period, both writers and artists will be expected to check in at regular intervals as specified by the schedule.During this event, we also encourage other types of creators to apply. Poets and songwriters, crafters and costumists, bakers and photographers--you're all welcome, and we will find a place for you!

Q: What about the Instagram?A: We are aware this is a topic that is hotly contested, but we want to make our stance extraordinarily clear from the beginning: This event does not endorse the Instagram zhangzhehan_super3, eHZZ merch brand, and related accounts, nor do we believe that ZSJ is ZZH. Our top priority is keeping our participants safe. Unfortunately, the language used in a video posted to this Instagram account on May 4, 2022 includes accusations and homophobic verbage which may not only be hurtful to LGBTQI+ members of our fandom community but is also in direct contrast to the love between Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun which this event is celebrating.Not only do we strongly discourage those who believe ZSJ is ZZH from registering for this event, but we will not allow participation from these individuals.Additionally, any creative content implying that ZSJ is ZZH will not be permitted in the event. Content which states or implies this will not be promoted as a part of our posting period or allowed within our AO3 collection, etc.We thank you in advance for your understanding and hope that members of this fandom can treat one another with respect and dignity as we move forward.Q: Will there be a Discord server for this event?A: Yes! A Discord server will be utilized as the event's central hub. Therefore, while collaborators may use whichever method of communication they prefer for collaboration, each and every participant must have a Discord to register. This is to ensure that the mod team can have a clear avenue of communication with each participant at any given time.Q: What are the minimum requirements for the Bang?A. Great question! Bang fics should be a minimum of 10k words, and accompanying visual art should be a fully colored, cleanly rendered illustration with at least some background elements.If you are registering as someone who will be creating something other than prose or visual art, please feel free to reach out to us to share your vision! We will work individually with creators to establish comparable minimum requirements for any creative medium.Q: Is NSFW content allowed?A: Yes! This event is entirely NSFW friendly. This means that all participating members must be 18+. While NSFW content will be allowed, we require all NSFW media to be kept within the appropriate channels in our Discord server and to be tagged as such during the posting phase.Q: What about AUs? Are those okay?A: You betcha. Be as creative as you would like! As long as Junzhe is the featured pairing in your content, anything is fair game.Q: Can I feature other pairings in my content?A: Background pairings, as well as polyamorous pairings, are fine and welcomed as long as the relationship between Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan is the primary focus of your content. If you have any specific concerns about whether or not your idea will work for this event, feel free to ask the mods for assistance.Q: Is JZEU (Junzhe Extended Universe) allowed?A: JZEU pairings with ZZH and GJ characters from different canons are acceptable, i.e. Ling Rui (Begin Again)/Wang Yue (Brother) is included; Wen Kexing (Word of Honor)/Zhou Zishu (Word of Honor) is not included.Q: Is there a difference between Wenzhou and Junzhe in costume?A: Absolutely! While depictions of the characters WKX and ZZS are not allowed in this event, we welcome content featuring the SHL filming period, including work when ZZH and GJ are in costume. Tropes such as roleplaying and character bleed are also appropriate, as long as it is clear that you are writing about GJ and ZZH as the primary characters rather than WKX and ZZS.Q: What about lesser utilized media such as poetry or comic pages? Will those be permitted?A: 100%! We're hoping to see a wide variety of content, and we welcome inquiries about alternative forms of media. If you have any interest in contributing something aside from a traditional fic or illustration, please let the mods know, and we will work with you.Q: Can I participate as both a writer and an artist/collaborator?A. For now, we ask that you choose one or the other. If participants need to drop out of the event and we find ourselves in need of pinch hitters, we may allow an exception to this rule (particularly if another participant is finished with their first piece early).Q: Can I register for the event with the intent to partner with a specific person?A: For this event, we are hoping to discourage pre-determined partnerships. Everyone will register individually, and then writers' pitches will be posted anonymously for artists to peruse during an artist claiming period. In order to participate in the event, everyone must go through this matching process. While we certainly can't stop artists from picking a friend's pitch as their first choice if they see it listed, we'd like to make everything as fair as possible so that each artist can find a pitch they're happy with and each writer will be paired with an artist who is excited about their fic idea.In other words, no, we cannot guarantee specific matches. Who knows, this could even mean some new friendships!However, if you have concerns about being partnered with a specific individual or individuals for any reason, there will be a space to indicate this during registration. Mods will work with you.Q: What happens if all the authors' synopses aren't claimed at first?A: This is why we have two rounds of claims built into our schedule! If all synopses are not claimed within the first matching round, a second round will run for those unmatched. In this case, we will make exceptions allowing participants to collaborate with more than one author. In other words, each claiming round will result in all collaborators being matched with an available synopsis. A second round will exist so that collaborators can double up on the fics they are creating companion pieces for by perusing the remaining synopses and choosing a second collaboration.As a last resort, we will also put a call out for pinch hitters.
